Merchant co-operative and clearing house United Merchants plc has appointed two new merchant members to the board.

Unimer adds two board members

Tony Hogg of GB Willbond Ltd and Lorcan Anglin of Pagets Builders Merchants Ltd have joined the Unimer board as non-executive directors to the Unimer board from May 1.

The new appointments are to replace Ron Walker of Heating Plumbing Supplies Ltd who will be standing down from the Unimer Board at the end of April.

GB Willbond Ltd was established in 1896 and now operates a total of 8 plumbers merchants and 4 bathroom centres in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire and employs 90 staff.

Pagets is a long-established, family owned heavyside merchant, with two branches in Sheffield, and they have recently won an award for their newly developed Green Energy Centre.

Unimer managing director Howard Grant says: ‘We are delighted that Tony and Lorcan will join us on the 1st May 2010. With their vast experience of the construction products and merchant industry, we are sure they will contribute to the future of Unimer.”

“The strengthening of our board is an essential factor in driving Unimer forward and further cementing our position as the leading clearing house for the trade industry. I am convinced Tony and Lorcan will play a key part in supporting our plans for future growth and I am delighted that we will be benefiting from their in-depth knowledge and experience of the industry.”
