Twyford welcome Part G water efficiency moves

Bathroom manufacturers Twyford have welcomed the changes announced to Part G of the Building Regulations which will boost water saving measures in new homes.

From October, every new home will have to meet a new standard of 125 litres of water usage per person per day, saving on average 175 litres of water per person a week. The regulation allows 120 litres for internal use & 5 litres for external use.

The WC is the number one consumer of water in a home. Current government regulations say all new WC’s must flush on a maximum of 6 litres but it is estimated that the majority of household WCs still flush on 9 or more litres.

Meanwhile, a typical bath holds around 200 litres of water but with Part G in mind, Twyford Bathrooms have launched the Signature bath that holds only 140 litres.
