Bathroom manufacturer Twyford Bathrooms is to stop manufacturing at its factory in Alsager, Cheshire.
The company, part of the European Sanitec group, has begun consultations with employees regarding the closure of the factory.
The decision will affect only the manufacturing and technical product development teams, the head office and associated functions – sales, marketing customer services, warehousing, logistics and support services – will remain.
Since Sanitec bought Twyford in January 2001 increasing amounts of product have been sourced from other Sanitec sites in order to retain competitiveness. The factory is currently running at 50% capacity.
