Builders Merchants Journal – BMJ Publishing to Builders Merchants and the UK merchanting industry for more than 95 years
A team from builders merchant Travis Perkins is to cycle from Lands End to John O Groats, having already done the trip in the other direction a year ago.
Richard Dey, Richard Bull, Richard Priest, Yas Swindell, Steve Day, Gary Smith, Lee Hankins and Paul Simpson are heading off on July 19 to cover the 883 miles non-stop in teams of 2.
The team aim to raise money for Travis Perkins’ nominated charity partners – Breast Cancer Campaign and Children’s Hospices UK.
They leave at 4am and team leader Gary Smith, operations manager at Travis Perkins Group Hire, says it will be harder this year as they know what to expect. However, he also expects that the support and donations will give the team “the drive and determination to complete the ride, and help beat last year’s time.”
