TP driver stops runaway car

A delivery driver from builders merchant Travis Perkins used his lorry as a road block to rescue a toddler in a runaway car.

Travis Perkins driver Dyfrig Willis was driving up a steep incline in Evanstown, Mid Glamorgan, when he noticed the car sliding away with four-year-old Mcauly inside and immediately positioned the lorry in the path of the car as a road block.

He and the little boy’s mum, council worker Amy Morgan, then managed to reach the car, slowing it before it smashed into the lorry.

The car suffered a smashed windscreen and bonnet, but the little boy was unharmed.

It is thought that the car’s handbrake failed.
