Top athletes celebrate with Geze UK

Geze UK are celebrating with the world’s top wheelchair athletes, after becoming the first corporate sponsor of the extreme Tunnel 2K International race.

The race, through Newcastle’s Tyne Tunnel, was won by South African Ernst van Dyk who completed the 2km course in just over four minutes, while Britain’s Shelly Woods won the women’s race with a time of six minutes and 24 seconds. UK favourite Tanni Grey-Thompson finished fourth, in 11 minutes 16 seconds.

Door and window control systems manufacturer Geze UK presented £1,000 to Ernst van Dyk, the UK’s largest cash prize for wheelchair racing.

Geze UK sales and marketing director Jules Quested-Williams said: “This race is truly unique and it was exhilarating from start to finish. We felt this was an excellent opportunity to show our support for extraordinary athletes at a world-class event.”
