Tarmac receives proposal from potential purchaser

Building materials firm Tarmac could be sold to an acquisition vehicle Marwyn Materials Ltd which has approached parent group Anglo American with a proposal to buy, according to Sky News.

Anglo has been seeking to dispose of Tarmac for some years, but has been prepared to wait until economic recovery can ensure a good price.

Anglo first put the For Sale sign up at Tarmac in 2007, when French cement giant Lafarge and Irish building materials group CRH both expressed an interest.
