This year’s Polypipe Regatta marks the 15th anniversary of the charity sailing event for the property and construction industry, and it’s been revealed the event has raised a staggering £125,000 for a range of charities since 1998.
Originally created by organiser, and Regional Director of Polypipe, Steve Upson to raise money for treatment of his autistic nephew William, the Poylpipe Regatta started out with just twelve yachts and raised £1,000. On the 15th anniversary it’s expected that seventy yachts will take part.
The regatta uses Sunsail’s full fleet of thirty-two Sunsail F40 yachts – an identical fleet of matched Beneteau First 40 yachts, the largest one-design charter fleet in the world. The event offers ideal networking and hospitality opportunities, and is open to sailors and non-sailors alike.
Over the years the event has raised money for the National Autistic Society, Joshua Orphan and Community Care and John Merricks Sailing Trust through entry fees, raffles and forfeit contributions. This year the Polypipe Regatta will be supporting Sunsail’s partner charity Sail 4 Cancer.
The event takes place on September 10 and 11. Regatta places are still available, for more information about the event visit http://www.polypipe.co.uk/news-article?id=4f50c6493dd23acc19000000
