Sterling board celebrates 25 years

A consortium of investors, including local businesses, landowners, institutions and a US financier, John Godfrey, came together in November 1983 to form Highland Forest Products on land supplied by the Highlands and Islands Development Agency.

Two years later, the Inverness factory became the first manufacturer of OSB – oriented strand board – in Europe.

Three years later, Canadian forest products pioneer, Noranda Forest Inc., bought the company.
