Silverline crown drag racing champions

Toolstation’s ‘Bolt Lightning’, was the winner. The machine was powered by a petrol disc cutter and featured a fly-by-wire electric throttle similar to the one in Jenson Button’s Mclaren F1 car. Bolt Lightening reached speeds of well over 40mph. Toolstation will donate the winner’s cheque for £1,250 to Bridgwater charity bibic.

Beaten into third place was the team from the Royal Navy engineers and TV’s The Gadget Show, which raced in a chainsaw powered luge.

Other competitors used a chainsaw driven bicycle, a dragster with a moto-bike modified engine which was powered by stone cutting saws and an electric scooter from Triton, powered by a 235mm Circular Saw.
