SDR joins Construction Inclusion Coalition

Specialist Driver Resourcing (SDR), the temporary driver agency dedicated to the builders’ merchant and building materials sector, has officially joined the Construction Inclusion Coalition (CIC) as a strategic partner.

The CIC was founded to encourage the industry to work together to retain, attract and recruit from as diverse a range of backgrounds as possible. Working together to enhance companies’ individual equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives and better reflect the communities they build for.

The Coalition brings together senior leaders and member organisations to share knowledge, develop best practice, and actively encourage under-represented groups to see construction as a place where they can build a career.

By becoming a strategic partner, SDR will help to shape the agenda for positive change across the sector. This will allow SDR not only to advocate for drivers within the builders’ merchant and building materials supply chain, but also to take practical steps to improve representation in one of the industry’s least diverse areas: HGV driving.

“Driving is seriously lagging behind other parts of the sector when it comes to diversity,” said Simon Pritchard, managing director of Specialist Driver Resourcing. “That’s something we need to change. For me, joining the CIC isn’t about ticking boxes – it’s about tackling the practical barriers that stop people considering driving in this industry, and showing that it can in fact offer a stable, skilled and rewarding career.”
