British Gypsum south eastern sales director John Pryer has helped raise more than £40,000 for charity after taking part in an ‘arctic challenge’.
The challenge, organised by Saint-Gobain Building Distribution, was for a 14-strong team to travel 250km from Tromso in northern Norway to Jukkasjarvi in Sweden.
Despite temperatures falling to 10oC at night, and an accident in which one member of the team broke their shoulder and four ribs when he was thrown from his sled, the expedition reached their destination after six days.
“Nothing gives you quite the same adrenalin rush as racing on a dog sled through forests or over frozen lakes at speeds of up to 20km/hour, with the wind biting at your face” said Pryer.
The fantastic figure of £40,000 was raised in aid of the British Heart Foundation
