MKM Building Supplies has announced it is opening its 125th branch, in Colchester, Essex; its branch will open in March and will create 20 jobs.
The branch, which will be opened by former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton, will be headed up by branch directors Neil Robinson and Shaun Webb, both of whom have deep roots in the local community and extensive experience in the building industry.
Robinson said: “I’ve lived in Colchester for 34 years, and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to lead a business in an area I love. There’s real community spirit here and both Shaun and I are determined that the new MKM Colchester branch will be an extension of that. To locals, we want to be the ‘big yellow building down the road’ and our customers can always expect us to be welcoming, helpful and provide the products and services they need.
“It’s important to us that we do more than just supply great products, and we will be actively upholding MKM’s well-known values to provide support to local projects and charities. We couldn’t be happier to be supporting local initiatives such as St Helena Hospice and Bright Lives, along with local charity sports teams.”
Its new branch has a 30,000 sq ft warehouse and will specialise in plumbing & heating, kitchen & bathroom solutions, brick specialisation, and timber and sheet materials.
Webb commented: “At the heart of the new MKM Colchester branch lies a commitment to excellence and a unique customer experience that sets us apart. Boasting over 500 years of combined experience, our team are all specialists with rich merchanting backgrounds.
“This depth of experience ensures that we cater to both trade professionals and the public with unrivalled knowledge, one-to-one customer services, and experience gained from across the town to identify and eliminate what doesn’t work.”
