PDS adds light and space

Performance Doorset Solutions’ products have been used in a development in Didsbury to produce a contemporary three storey residence.

The Laburnum development in Didsbury, Manchester, takes maximum advantage of natural light utilising the latest eco friendly high performance products. PDS have developed and installed double height windows in the living room along with folding patio doors to the bedrooms to give the feeling of space and light throughout.

The design brief for the Didsbury project was to create a contemporary building which respects the traditional surroundings yet is supported by impeccable eco credentials. It was important that the development achieved an “exemplary” level 4 Code for Sustainable Homes rating (CSH), but without creating too obvious an ‘eco’ appearance.

PDS provided all of the external windows and doors, which were made using FSC certified laminated soft wood. The timber is laminated with a clear defect free outer face, which enables a wide choice of low maintenance factory finishes and also provides a high performance product for many years.

Laminated glass was also used to provide the required safety levels, and all of the products are secured by design accredited. The Secured by Design status provides an enhanced level of security by its very nature, however the products also achieve the BMTrada Q-mark, which gives additional third party endorsed security levels.
