McGovern & Co. is celebrating reaching a milestone of eight million bricks supplied in the two years since its acquisition by a growth strategy firm.
Established in the North-East for more than 70 years, McGovern & Co. was acquired in September 2020 by Yorkshire-based growth specialists, Alpaca. Since then, the Gateshead-based business has benefited from both Alpaca’s financial investment and its expert advice and business acumen, helping it hit its highest sales figures in over 10 years and now this eight millionth brick milestone.
McGovern & Co. managing director, Andrew Pickersgill, said: “In the two years since McGovern & Co. was acquired by Alpaca we’ve seen the business benefit from new marketing activity, including a new website and branding. We’ve also worked to expand our customer base across the North of England, including architects, builders, homeowners and builders’ merchants looking for sustainable building solutions from industry experts.
“This, combined with a busy time for the construction industry, has helped us reach such an impressive milestone. We’re really pleased to officially present out eight millionth brick to Tandem Construction Ltd., and we’re looking forward to seeing what future milestones we can reach!”
Nathaniel Crinson, director of Tandem Construction Ltd, added: “As a relatively new company, we’ve really appreciated how professional, responsive and helpful McGovern & Co. has been to work with. They’re currently supporting us with quality products and innovative options on three sites in Blyth, Shildon and Jarrow, and we’ll definitely continue to work with them on our upcoming projects.”
The eight millionth brick will be used in the creation of 14 homes in Jarrow, on the Neon Social Club site.
