The majority family shareholders who established Lords have a long-standing history of charitable giving. Building on this legacy, Lords Group Trading established The Lords Group Foundation in 2021, prior to listing on AIM. The Group has committed to donating £200,000 per annum to the Foundation.
Lords Group Foundation focuses support on making meaningful contributions to community projects that are local to our businesses. Lords particularly welcome applications from local community centres, as they have identified a lack of funding for these much used and needed community hubs.
November saw the launch event of The Lords Foundation. Founder and CEO Shanker Patel hosted the event at popular Portobello Road go-to Acklam Village, renowned for its live music, eclectic interiors and locally sourced produce. With cultural street food being at the heart of the venue, authentic Caribbean food was served to guests from local vendor Caribbean Fresh, steel pan sets performed by the crew from CSI Steel Band and the bar serving up craft beers from the Portobello Brewing company.
Speeches were given by Shanker Patel, Westway Trust CEO Venu Dhupa, Habitat for Humanity CEO Tum Kazunga and Lords colleague Dee Singh all sharing inspiration and praise for the impact the Lords Foundation has created so far, and how the collaboration between the Foundation and Charities is making a positive difference to date.
Shanker Patel, CEO, said: “As a family, we recognise the importance of both giving back and sharing our success. We want to create a legacy that involves the whole Lords Group Trading family, which is rooted in recognising and supporting our wider communities.”
