Colleagues at painting and decorating specialists, Leyland SDM are preparing for a 5km challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The 24-strong Leyland SDM team will join other runners and lace up their shoes for the RunThrough Hyde Park 5km on October 15. All money raised through sponsorship and in-store donations will be donated to Leyland SDM’s charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Many of the colleagues taking part are not regular runners so will be following the Couch to 5K programme designed by the NHS to get beginners up to speed and develop healthy habits.
Jonathan Jennings, CEO of Leyland SDM, said: “We love overcoming challenges, particularly if it also gives back to the community. That’s why we are encouraging colleagues who have never run before to train using Couch to 5k and really challenge themselves to help our charity partner Macmillan.
“It takes a huge amount of stamina and character to fight cancer, so we are showing our appreciation of this by pushing ourselves to complete this run.”
Leyland SDM, London’s leading painting and decorating specialist with 32 stores across the capital, has been a Macmillan partner for three years and is continuously fundraising. The company has raised more than £120,000 in total.
Jennings added: “We have charity T-shirts being sold in store where all the profits from each sale are donated to Macmillan, plus we encourage all of our colleagues to volunteer or support local community projects too.”
