Legislation Alert!

Another rise in the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and an increase in statutory paid holidays takes effect next week – do you know the new laws?

Legislation Alert!

As of this week (October 1) the NMW for adults has risen from £5.35 to £5.52 an hour, from £4.45 to £4.60 an hour for 18-22-year-olds and from £3.30 to £3.40 an hour for 16 and 17-year-olds.

Statutory paid leave meanwhile rises from 20 days per year to 24. However, before employees start planning extra day’s leave and filling in their absence forms it should be noted that those 24 days still include the eight Bank Holidays a year so staff only have 16 days to use.
