Job cuts on global and local levels

Cemex has denied reports that they are to cut 10% of their workforce worldwide, while one UK firm has also announced some job losses may be imminent.
Cemex yesterday denied reports that 10% of jobs would be lost, however, the company did say that some jobs would go as the result of cost-cutting exercise across the company.

The move follows the decisions last month to close the company’s plant in Naas, Co Kildare, with a loss of 50 jobs.

Meanwhile Corus have announced possible redundancies at their factory in Llandybie. The potential redundancies will form part of a £6m investment and reshuffle of the company.

The number of job cuts, if they go ahead, has not been confirmed.
