Chris Dack, IT director at Harris & Bailey, swapped his hardware for handlebars and cycled from London to Brighton on June 15 , before continuing on to Paris, cycling down the iconic Champs-Élysées on June 17 .
The Croydon builders’ merchant has supported Dack in his charity challenge as he cycled 200 miles from London to Paris and raising more than £700 for St. Raphael’s Hospice.
After completing his training, which saw him consistently cycling each week to build his stamina, Chris covered 230 miles in three days, winding through the scenic countryside of southern England and northern France, before culminating in the French capital.
Dack entirely self-funded the challenge, with every donation goes straight to the charity which supports people with life-limiting and terminal illnesses.
“I’m really pleased to have surpassed my original fundraising target of £500 for St. Raphael’s,” Dack commented. “Seeing the donations rolling in definitely gave me the boost I needed during the tough moments and I’m grateful to all of my fantastic colleagues for their brilliant support.
“It was a hard challenge and I’ll admit I had to dig deep at times to keep going, but I’m really chuffed I made it to Paris and raised more than £700 along the way.”
Neville Horsfield, managing director at Harris & Bailey, said: “We’re really impressed that Chris completed this epic ride for charity. We were all with him in spirit, cheering him on as he made his way to Paris.
“Supporting our colleagues is something we’re all passionate about. We followed along with Chris’ updates and we’re thrilled to see he smashed his fundraising target.”
