IronmongeryDirect opens new facilities

The official opening ceremony of the 50,000 sq ft facility was performed by managing director Wayne Lysaghat-Mason, founder Reg Bass and director Chris Bass on Thursday (October 6).

The new premises at Scimitar Park in Basildon, Essex, plus new business management systems, represent an investment of over £2.5 million. The extra space will enable the business to increase product lines to 20,000 within the next four years and improve its next-day, direct to the customer service.

There is also a trade counter, offering 11,500 products from stock, including door, window and security hardware plus screws, fixings and accessories.

Lysaght-Mason said: “The move will enable us to accommodate thousands of new product lines and up to three times the current level of staffing, giving us room to keep up the momentum of our fast business growth to date.”

Celebrating the move to new premises the company invited local dignitaries and suppliers to see Reg Bass, founder of the original hardware shop in Leigh-on-Sea, officially open the building with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
