Devon independent Inter-Line has completed its 2013 Kayak challenge in aid of the Torbay Lifeboat, raising an impressive amount of money for the charity.

Financial director Neil Robinson said: “Our team set off from Newton Abbot at 07.00 in quiet sunny conditions but we knew we wouldn’t be so lucky for the entire trip. After travelling four miles down the Teign river and then 10 around the South Devon coast, we rounded Hopes Nose into Torbay and were greeted with a 15mph head-wind which we had to contend with for the final six miles.”
Although it wasn’t the first time the team has done the route, Robinsons said that it was much harder this time round. “It took us 8.5 hours paddling this against 6.5 last year to cover the same distance. We arrived in Brixham, 20 miles later, at 17.00hrs completely exhausted and with blisters to show for our efforts.”
The total raised was £7,414, some £1,939 more than last year and Robinson says he is “absolutely thrilled” with how much they raised.
“I also want to say a really big Thank You to our main sponsors: Woodpecker, Bond, Bradstone, Crown, Premdor, Natural Paving, Cemex, Keystone, M&S, Hunter, BSW, International Ply, Expamet, Everbuild, Parker BS, Harris & Bailey.”
