IBMG buys Merkko Builders Merchant

Builders merchant group Independent Builders Merchant Group has bought Merkko Builders Merchants Ltd, expanding its network of builder’s merchants further into Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Merkko is based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and has two branches in Kingston Bagpuize and Aldermaston.

The acquisition continues IBMG’s strategy of developing its divisions through a combination of acquisition, new site development and organic growth, following its merger with Grant & Stone. Strategically it will extend the IBMG’s builder’s merchant offering, providing a strong platform for further growth. Culturally, both companies share a common vision, independent ethos and commitment to providing the highest standards of customer service.

This partnership resolves future succession issuesfor Merkko, which will join Grant & Stone and Ian Duckitt, Merkko’s owner, will continue with the business working with Mat Miller, managing director of Grant & Stone Builders Merchants, to ensure Merkko’s successful integration into the Group.
