Peter Booth of G V Booth Plumbing & Heating, Loughborough, represented the East Midlands as he was announced the country’s winner during a special presentation at industry trade show Installer2017 on 10th May 2017.

Sponsored by some of the biggest names in the industry, including Continental Underfloor, Danfoss, Graham The Plumbers’ Merchant, LG, Pegler Yorkshire , Sentinel, Vaillant UK and Installer Magazine, the awards recognise heating installers that go above and beyond the call of duty, something Booth “exemplifies”.

Founding member of the Gas Safe Superheroes campaign, Booth is passionate about the industry and wants to encourage future generations to pursue a career in plumbing.

Speaking of his new title as the UK’s Best Heating Installer 2017, he said: “It feels so good to have been named the National Winner of the Heating Installer Awards 2017.

“The best thing about this whole process has been all of the people I’ve met on social media who have voted and believed in me. I really didn’t expect to win, although everyone else had confidence in me.

“I’ve really enjoyed raising awareness of what installers do across the country and I’d encourage anyone who’s interested to enter next year.”

Ian Kenny, Managing Director of Graham The Plumbers’ Merchant, one of the sponsors of the award, added: “The Heating Installer Awards are a great way for us to champion the best examples of highly professional work carried out by the people working in our industry, whilst demonstrating best practice.

“The plumbing and heating industry advances so quickly. From underfloor heating to smart controls, installers constantly need to arm themselves with the most up to date arsenal. The installers shortlisted today don’t just to this, but constantly strive to improve the face of the industry whilst meeting customer demands.

“Graham The Plumbers’ Merchant is proud to have been part of the Heating Installer Awards 2017 and wants to congratulate Peter on his brilliant success.”

Mark McGettigan, Editor at Installer Magazine, said: “The positive representation of installers, both within the industry and to the wider public, is something we are passionate about at Installer magazine. It is great that we are able to host the winner presentation at Installer2017 and play a role in the celebration of the talent available within the UK.”

Steve Keeton, Marketing & Technologies Director at Vaillant, added: “At Vaillant, we’re proud to be involved in celebrating the talent the UK plumbing and heating industry has to offer. All the installers shortlisted bring credibility to the industry, showcasing the brilliant work we can do and deserved to be celebrated.

“Congratulations to Peter for his success. The work he carries out in changing the face of the industry and encouraging young people to join the trade, made him a worthy winner.”

Dean Foster, of Dean Foster Plumbing and Heating, County Durham, came runner up in the awards, he said: “I feel really proud to have been named the National Runner Up in the Heating Installer Awards 2017.

“It feels nice to be recognised for my hard work, and it was such a surprise! It won’t change me as a person, but it will help me to get recognised for my achievements and I’m sure it will improve my business prospects.

“I could only make a flying visit to the awards ceremony as I had promised one of my elderly customers that her install would be complete by the end of the day – there’s no time to let the customer service drop despite the excitement of the competition.

“I would definitely tell other installers to enter next year’s awards; there are some great prizes involved and it’s such a great achievement!”

Nominations for the Heating Installer Awards 2017 opened in November 2016, asking installers, homeowners and customers to submit exemplary examples of work over the past 12 months.

A panel of industry experts then met to shortlist 10 regional winners, with the shortlist going to a public vote. Thousands of votes were cast, with Peter crowned winner of the Heating Installer Awards 2017.

The 2018 competition will open later this year.
