Graham supports boiler scrappage petition

Plumbers merchant Graham has added its support to industry calls for Government to introduce a boiler scrappage scheme.
If introduced, the scheme would encourage owners to ‘scrap’ their less efficient boilers and replace them with modern, and more sustainable, models.

Graham’s Sales & Marketing Director, Patrick Guest, says: “One of the most publicised points following this year’s budget was the car scrappage scheme. Whilst the Government is moving in the right direction and addressing measures to reduce the negative impact that carbon emissions have on the environment, more must be done.

“New boilers deliver a 20 per cent energy efficiency gain however relatively few people own one. The introduction of a boiler scrappage scheme would deliver huge gains as a result of such a simple move and Graham is fully behind the call to action.”

A petition calling for the scheme was set up by Mick Williams, managing director of Hampshire plumbers merchants Williams & Co and is being supported by PTS, Worcester Bosch, Baxi and many others.

It can be signed at http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/boilerscrappage/

Graham is also encouraging its one-off installer customers to go green by teaming up with the top six boiler manufacturers to provide their Band A rated boilers at a fixed price throughout the Graham branch network.

It is the first time that Graham has backed the leading boiler manufacturers together in a move that aims to provide its customers with high efficiency standards at low prices.
