Gibbs & Dandy holds health surgery days

Builders merchant Gibbs & Dandy, part of Jewson, has held a series of health & safety days across its branch network.

Gibbs & Dandy holds health surgery days

Branch staff convinced customers to swap their usual bacon butty for fruit and cereal bars, whilst providing advice on healthy eating, fitness and general safety at work.

Acting as a mini surgery, customers were encouraged to have their blood pressure checked, whilst in store, and offered advice on how to combat low or high blood pressure. Plus, as an added incentive to promote health and safety at work, Gibbs & Dandy offered a discount on all safety products, such as hi-vis vests and hardhats.

Group marketing director, Tania Tams, said: “Getting our trade professionals to swap their morning sarni for fruit and cereal bars, is no mean feat, but we were really impressed by how well received it was.

“As well as convincing them to have a healthy start to the day, a high percentage of customers also chose to have their blood pressure checked. Many of our trade customers admitted it was something that has been on their ‘to do list’ but can never find the time, by providing the service during their normal working day it’s made it a lot more convenient.”
