Get Britain Building campaign launches February 10

Get Britain Building is a four-way partnership between Builders Merchaqnts Federation, British Precast and the Modern Masonry Alliance and the Federation of Master Builders. It is supported by around 30 industry organisations.

Spokesperson for the campaign Mike Leonard said: “With building in unprecedented decline and tens of thousands of workers losing their jobs, the time has come to unite our fragmented industry to make our voice heard and put building at the centre of the Government’s plans for recovering our damaged economy.”

The coalition will bring together all of those who have an interest in the building of homes and public buildings and the campaign will focus on 10 key points that will make a real difference to the immediate and future state of the economy.

Leonard said: “Get Britain Building will be about outcomes rather than rhetoric, 28% of UK employment is generated directly from construction and we must not allow our manufacturing and skill base to be further eroded .

“Our economy is not sustainable if we have to import everything and our vital skills have been lost. The Government will be asked to make swift decisions to support our industry in the greater interest of all who live and work in the UK.”
