A business and marketing student from the De Montfort University is joining East Midlands independent plumbing and heating merchant and bathroom retailer Pochin.

DMU student joins Pochin

Tom Zarb, 20, who lives in Knighton, is spending a year with the merchant as part of his degree and will spend time working on the marketing of the Leicestershire business. He was chosen by Pochin after a rigorous selection process which assessed several DMU candidates.

David Pochin, managing director, said: “Tom impressed us in the presentations by students at DMU and we are pleased to have his expertise and enthusiasm in the business. We look forward to him making a positive impact for Pochin and our customers.”

Pochin added that Zarb’s work will help promote the firm’s network of bathroom and AGA showrooms and its trade counters across Leicestershire and in Derbyshire and Rutland.

Zarb said he is looking forward to his time with the merchant. He said: “Growing up in Leicester I’ve long known the Pochin name – indeed, our family home’s bathroom was from Pochin – and I was very keen to work inside a local SME to find out how a medium sized business works.

“Another attraction is that Pochin is a business which is constantly looking to change and be proactive in how it communicates with the trade and the public. I am very confident I will learn a lot and make a good contribution.”
