Paint manufacturer Crown Paints Limited has been awarded a ‘Best Practice’ environmental award.

Crown Paints wins environmental award

Crown won the Environmental Best Practice category and was highly commended in the Carbon Management category in this year’s Lancashire Business Environment Awards.

Crown’s award submissions presented different aspects of the manufacturer’s earthbalance® programme, a holistic approach to achieving long term sustainability which has involved every one of the company’s 1,400 employees.

Technical director, Brian Widdop says: “We are totally committed to reducing our carbon footprint and minimising the impact that our business has upon the environment. By harnessing the ideas, knowledge and insight of our employees and introducing environmental teams in every department we’ve been able to identify a wide range of targets to focus on, and have made very real improvements.

Initiatives covered manufacturing, logistics and waste reduction.

Crown was also ‘Highly Commended’ this month for its earthbalance® strategy in the British Coatings Federation’s inaugural Award for Sustainable Innovation.
