Chandlers take on three more

Sussex indepdent builders’ merchant Chandlers Building Supplies has extended its vehicle fleet with three more trucks.

Chandlers take on three more

The 26-tonne Actros and Axor are working out of the company’s headquarters branch in Ringer, Sussex, while the Lewes branch is home to a 10-tonne Atego.

All three have dropside bodies and rear-mounted Hiab cranes – remote-controlled on the Actros and Axor.

“Our business is expanding and the requirement for inter-branch movements is increasing,” Chandlers transport manager Mick Foster said. “As fuel prices continue to shoot up, we felt that a drawbar combination offered the most flexible and cost-effective solution to the problem of increasing volume capacity with a single vehicle.”

The Actros can also be used as a solo rigid, Foster says. “We might, for example, drop the trailer at one of our yards and then, while it is being unloaded, use the truck to deliver to a customer location before returning later in the day to pick up the reloaded trailer.”
