Chandlers supports manager’s 42-mile ride

Family-owned Sussex independent builders merchant company, Chandlers Building Supplies, is helping its Petworth branch manager, Jason Austin to raise money for its 2018 charity partner, the Construction Industry Helpline.

Austin is organising a fun 42-mile bike ride across Sussex on August 18. The cycle route starts at the company’s Petworth branch and finishes at its Ringmer head office. A group of Chandler’s employees will be joining him on the relaxed ride and are appealing for others to join them.

The team of cyclists is currently 35-strong and they are planning to complete the ride across Sussex in four to five hours. Last year Austin suffered a heart attack and underwent open heart surgery. His recovery has been life changing and the inspiration for this bike ride. He hopes lots of keen cyclists of any ability will join him. He said: “I’d like to share this journey with as many people as possible so please join us, have a fun day, keep your heart healthy and help a great charity!”

There is no entrance fee but participants are asked to raise much-needed funds for the Construction Industry Helpline, 0345 605 1956, by raising sponsorship or making a donation to take part. For more information contact: jason.austin@chandlersbs.co.uk

Every penny raised will go to the charity to provide financial and emotional support to the construction community and their families following an injury or illness.
