Cemex UK sales slump 43% for first quarter

Sales at cement manufacturers Cemex fell 43% to $190m in the first quarter of 2009, according to the global cement company’s report, published this morning.

Operating profit was also affected, down 10% at £4.5m.

Global turnover in the first quarter of the current year was down by 533% to £2.5bn.

Cemex bought building materials group RMC in 2005.
