Building Adhesives stage H&S week

Building Adhesives recently staged their very own “Health & Safety Week”. Running over five working days, the event was designed to ensure everyone, at all levels, was aware of health & safety issues in the workplace.

Over the course of the week, the workforce was divided into teams before competing in a variety of activities, which were designed to be fun as well as informative. Activities included a Cluedo-style mystery involving hazardous situations, and a ‘dress the dummy’ competition, where staff had to equip a mannequin with the appropriate PPE (personal protection equipment) for a number of given scenarios.

The company also ran an open suggestion scheme where team members were encouraged to suggest their own health & safety ideas.

To close the event, Building Adhesives held a special awards presentation where local MP Rob Flello presented the individual winners, as well as the overall winning team, with a variety of experience days – including a day’s white water rafting and a day’s motor racing.

Building Adhesives health & safety co-ordinator Jenny Barnett said: “As a company with a progressive approach to its people, the safety, wellbeing and welfare of our team is paramount. This event took no less than three months to organise but if it prevents just one person being injured in the course of their work then all the effort and planning will have been worth it.”
