Builders merchant raises cash for ambulance charity

The race evening was held at Barnard Castle rugby club and raised £2,600. It included prizes and sponsored races and prizes from suppliers and other local businesses. Donated raffle prizes included a Wii, two flat screen TV’s, restaurant vouchers, tools and bottles.

S&A Merchants’ Kevin Warnes said: “We thought it would be a good excuse to have a little fun in the run up to Christmas and raise a little money for this excellent cause, which is S&A’s chosen charity this year.”

Further incentive came when the company heard about Nikita Batty whose life was saved by the air ambulance when she was kicked in the side of her head by a horse.
