Bradfords Building Supplies has reinforced its commitment to community resilience throughout nationwide Flood Action Week, including hosting a flood preparedness event at its Glastonbury branch.
The event demonstrated how businesses and homeowners can protect properties from flood damage. A range of innovative flood defence solutions were on display, such as anti-flood air bricks, uPVC flood doors, non-return valves and temporary barriers, alongside equipment hire options and flood bags, rainwater storage and attenuation products.
CEO of Bradfords, David Young, said: ‘We were delighted to see such strong engagement from the local community and our trade customers. Across the South West, and particularly in Somerset, we are seeing increasing flooding risks, but our suppliers are ahead of the curve with innovative solutions which support both mitigation efforts and barriers if floods do strike. We’re proud be playing our part in this nationwide initiative alongside major house-builders, government agencies and our supplier partners.”

Terry Sloman, Flood Resilience Champion at Fernco, said: “With flood risks on the rise, it’s vital that homeowners, businesses and the trades who support them understand the practical solutions available to prevent damage. Insurance alone isn’t enough. For the average home, cost-effective property flood resilience (PFR) products – like flood-proof airbricks, non-return valves and flood bags – can cost less than a train ticket to London, yet save thousands in repairs and disruption.”
