The Builders Merchants Federation has announced the line-up of speakers and topics for its annual Members Day in September.
Keynote speakers for the business sessions are Anthony Hilton, chief economist of the Evening Standard and Roger Humber, economist and consultant to the House Builders Association.
Hilton has spoken at two all-industry conferences in the past, breaking the news about the sub-prime mortgage market and its appalling economic aftermath. Humber will take a more industry-specific line, setting economic arguments in the context of housebuilding activity and looking at the commercial realities of housebuilding in the context of the new government’s “localism” agenda.
Workshops will look at business models for a low carbon future, transport issues and avoiding fraud, whilst the Product Syndicate sessions will look at the latest changes to the Building Regulations, specifically Documents F, G, J and L.
BMF Members’ Day is on September 14 at the Forest of Arden Hotel, Meriden.
