“Blind Dave” to speak at BMF Members’ Day

Dave Heeley, an inspirational, fundraising adventurer has been confirmed as the latest speaker for the Builders Merchants Federation’s (BMF) Members’ Day in September at the Carden Park Golf Resort & Spa near Chester.

“Blind Dave” as he is known to his friends, became the first blind person to complete the seven marathon challenge – 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents.

In April he conquered the Sahara Desert to complete the Marathon de Sables, a six-day, 156 mile ultra-marathon in one of the world’s most inhospitable climates, reputed to be the toughest foot race on earth.

In a previous challenge he cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End in ten days, running a marathon and cycling 75 miles each day and covering over 1000 miles in total.

Heeley will share his experience of importance of teamwork, the power of trusting in your team, and effective communication and how to use it.

Allister Frost, the former head of digital marketing for Microsoft and Angela Rushforth, group managing director of Ridgeons Group Ltd have already been confirmed to speak at the event.
