Bathstore set for £85m sale

Bids were due in yesterday (January12) for Bathstore, the retail bathroom arm of builders and plumbers merchant Wolseley.

Wolseley is disposing of non-core assets – Brandon Hire has already been divested – as part of a refocus following two turbulent years. It bought the chain in 2003 and expanded it from just 33 stores to 160.

Wolseley never comments on press speculation of this nature, however, a price tag of up to £85 million is thought to be expected, depending how sales in the key post-Christmas period fare.
