Howarth Timber & Building Supplies’ York branch has celebrated one of its employees’ fiftieth anniversary of working for the independent builders and timber merchant chain.
David “Foggy” Fogg marked his 50 years at the companywith a socially-distanced staff party in the branch which involved a presentation and words from group managing director, Nick Howarth.
He said: “The most pleasing and rewarding aspect of my job is looking after all the customers, whether they be trade or retail, helping them and providing a personal service, which I pride myself on.
“I treat customers how I’d wish to be treated myself and I believe that if you do this people will always come back. This is what you need to do to build a good reputation for service and building up rapport with my customers is something that I believe will keep our business thriving.”
John McGhie, branch manager at Howarth Timber & Building Supplies York, said: “I have worked in the industry for coming up to 17 years now and I have never worked with an individual who has come anywhere near to 50 years’ service with one company. It is a fantastic achievement and one that David and his family should be very proud of.
“His section of the yard is kept so tidy you could eat your dinner off it and, on a personal level, he is an absolute joy to work with. I can’t speak highly enough of Foggy from my short time working with him. Here’s to another 50 years!”
