Wilo reminds merchants to avoid “genuine safety risks”

Wilo

With heating season on the horizon, pump manufacturer Wilo is encouraging merchants to ensure they source heating circulation pumps from reputable suppliers.

The reminder comes amid the annual surge for replacement pumps, as heating systems are serviced upgraded or repaired, ahead of the colder months.

Andy Thompson, national sales manager, plumbing & heating, at Wilo UK, said: “With heating season around the corner, it’s essential that merchants understand the importance of sourcing circulation pumps from reputable suppliers. The consequences of cutting corners go beyond inefficient energy consumption or inconvenient maintenance – we’re talking genuine safety risks.

“While cost and convenience are often key drivers in purchasing decisions, they should never come at the expense of safety or reliability – particularly during peak heating season when systems are under increased pressure.”

Wilo is advising merchants to conduct four crucial checks on domestic heating circulation pumps:

1. Check the pump’s CE Marking
2. Ensure the pump comes from a reputable pump manufacturer
3. Look for an energy efficiency index (EEI) rating
4. Be cautious if the pump is significantly cheaper than similar market alternatives

The manufacturer’s compliance checker service is available to help verify the authenticity and safety credentials of pumps before installation, helping to prevent non-compliant models from entering homes and facilities.
